Tickets & Policies

Q: Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?

A: Advance purchase is highly recommended as there is limited capacity on our trips. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. Tickets can be purchased online or over the phone with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express.


Q: What if it rains?

A: Our trips will run in light rain or other moderate weather conditions. However, if there is severe or unsafe weather conditions and we have to cancel, you will be allowed to reschedule your tickets or receive credit for a future event.


Q: Do you go fishing if it is blowing gale winds with big seas?

A: No. Our number 1 priority is safety. In the case of cancellation due to severe weather, we will give you a credit or you can reschedule your fishing trip.


Q: Are children allowed? Is there an age restriction?

A: We love children and they are more than welcome to attend the fishing trip! We recommend our charter fishing trips for those 8 years of age and up. Please keep in mind, all charter boat attendees must have a full-priced ticket, regardless of age.


Q: What if I don't want to fish, can I still go on the boat?

A: Yes, but all attendees must have a standard, full-priced ticket.


Fishing, Limits, & Trip Specifics

Q: Do I have to be experienced to go fishing?

A: No experience necessary! The captain & crew are very helpful and work hard to make sure you catch your limit and have a great time.


Q: What kind of fishing trips do you have?

A: We have a variety of different fishing trips available including, rock fishing (bottom fishing), crabbing, salmon, tuna, and halibut. We will be adding steelhead and bass soon. Check our calendar for details on each trip.


Q: What kind of fish will we catch?

A: Types of fish caught include: Rock Fish (all types), Lingcod, Green Ling, Perch, Sea Bass, Vermilion, and Cabazon. The fishing is good right now and nice size Lingcod are being caught.


Q: What is the limit on rock fish and ling cod?

A: Limits are 7 rock fish and 2 ling cod.


Q: How do you fish for crab?

A: Bait is placed in a crab pot about 30” wide, and attached to a rope and buoy marker, then lowered to the bottom of the ocean in about 30’- 45’ of water near shore.


Q: How many crab can I catch?

A: Oregon limit is 12 Dungeness crab and 24 red rock crab per person, and an Oregon shell fish license is required. It can be purchased at the same time you purchase a fishing license.


Q: How much fishing time do we get?

A: Guests will fish for 4-5 hours. Of course if we catch all our limits we will return early.


Q: How long does it take to get onto the ocean from the dock?

A: It takes about 10 minutes to cross the bar onto the ocean once you leave the dock.


Q: How far out will we go?

A: We will go anywhere from 1 to 3 miles out, and will fish in waters anywhere from 60 to 130 feet deep.


Fishing Equipment & Licenses

Q: What does the one day fishing license cost?

A: The cost of the one day fishing license is $16.75, and a crabbing license is $7.


Q: Is all the fishing equipment provided?

A: Yes, we provide all the fishing equipment and tackle.


Q: Will I get a discount if I bring my own rod & reel?

A: No, we do not offer discounted tickets for bringing your own equipment.


Q: Is there someone to fillet the fish upon return?

A: Our crew will fillet your catch for you. Tips are appreciated.


Q: Are we guaranteed to catch our limit of fish?

A: No. We are blessed to have healthy stocks of fish off the South Oregon coast so most of the time you do catch fish!


Q: Can I keep the fish I catch?

A: Yes, you can keep the fish you catch and put them in your own basket.


Q: Will I see other things, like marine animals, out on the ocean?

A: Yes, in the spring you will see whales migrating. There are sea birds, dolphins, porpoises, sea lions, jellyfish, and bait balls. Because we're in a commercial port, you will see big ships, tug boats and other vessels leaving and returning to port.


What Should I Bring?

Q: Is there food served on the trip?

A: No, as there will be no food served on board, we recommend you bring the food you like with you. Feel free to bring a small ice chest with you!


Q: Can I bring an ice chest for my food?

A: Yes, you can bring a small ice chest for your food.


Q: Are there drinks served on the trip?

A: There will be water and available on board, and please bring any additional beverages you'd like with you. Note that alcohol is fine to bring, but we ask that it be used in moderation.


Questions About the Boat

Q: How many people can go on it at once?

A: Because we are an exclusive private charter, we limit the number of guests to 6 plus 2-3 crew members. Our 30’ Kingfisher/Costal Express is brand new in 2016, and provides 10’ of open deck space behind the cabin which provides plenty of room for a great fishing experience.


Q: Is there a galley?

A: No, but we do have a comfortable cabin area and will provide water, and recommend you bring any additional water, soft drinks and food that you'd like with you.


Q: Is there a head on the boat?

A: Yes, there is a head on the boat.


Q: Are the captain and crew helpful?

A: Yes, the captain and crew are patient and helpful. Your safety and enjoyment are very important to us.


Q: What if I get seasick?

A: It is best to stay out on deck and keep the fresh air around you. If you are particularly prone to seasickness, we advise taking preventative measures beforehand. We will bring you back to the dock if requested, but there are no refunds.


General FAQs

Q: How should I dress?

A: Please dress warmly, with comfortable shoes. A warm hat and gloves are also nice to bring along just in case.


Q: Can I take my dog on the trip?

A: No, pets are not allowed on our fishing trips.


Q: Can I smoke on the boat?

A: Yes, smoking is allowed on deck, but not in the cabin area. Illegal drugs are forbidden.


Q: Do you operate year round?

A: Yes we do.


Q: Do you have wheelchair access?

A: No, our boat is not currently wheelchair accessible.


Q: Are cameras and video cameras allowed?

A: Yes, you are certainly allowed to bring a still or video camera to capture your day on the ocean!


Q: Are GPS's allowed?

A: We do not allow personal GPS on our boat.


Q: Are binoculars allowed?

A: Absolutely! They are especially helpful during whale season.
